4 No-Bake Cookies

Yep. That’s how many cookies I ate 2 nights ago and they weren’t little ones either.  (But oh my gosh, you’re a HEALTH coach! SERIOUSLY?! Talk about a double standard!)

Not really. I’m very open with my clients from day 1 that all food belongs. The difference is that I didn’t eat them because I was stressed or having a terrible day or needing a sugar high.  It was a planned indulgence and I mindfully enjoyed every single one over an entire evening with zero guilt and zero worry about “falling off the wagon” the next day.

Oh, how different this scenario would have been 18 months ago. I would have shoved in 7-8 cookies (because I won’t be having these again with the diet I’m starting tomorrow) then beat the crap out of myself the next 3 days for being so weak and undisciplined.

Can you see what I meant by those perfectionist tendencies I spoke of last week?

Perfectionists will never be successful with their wellness and weight loss goals until they allow themselves to

1. Not have to lose weight every week

2. Enjoy indulgent food without guilt and

3. Struggle.

Ironic isn’t it?  We have this crazy mixed-up belief that the only way success happens is with perfect rigid diligence and unfailing execution of goals. Really, lasting success happens when perfectionists decide to be KIND to themselves.

> Wow, I got off track today, but it’s OK. I’m going to learn from that and try again.

> I feel so overwhelmed with my week. I should probably adjust my goals a bit so I can still make progress and not feel so stressed about everything I need to get done.)

As much as some of us are prone toward perfectionism, some of us lean heavier into another trait that can make our wellness and weight loss efforts a big struggle in a different way. We want to have better health and lose weight but no diet or program ever works for us.

Why is that?

It’s a little something called laxity. (For those of you who just thought of EX-LAX, you’re my people.)

Next week is a tough love kind of thing but it’s the first step for some of us to see what we haven’t been willing to “see” before!
